A young man from Ebonyi State has become a trending topic online after setting out on foot from Abakaliki to Lagos in a bid to meet Nigerian music star Davido.
Identified as Nworie Obinna Jasper, a native of Ikwo in Ebonyi State, he began his trek on 17 February 2026, telling followers his journey was driven by faith and determination to meet Davido and take a photo with him.
In his own words posted online just before he set out, Jasper said: “From Ebonyi State to Lagos, every step I take is powered by faith and determination. I’m chasing a dream to meet Davido and take that one photo.”
The journey began with strong local support, as friends, family, and well-wishers in Ebonyi promoted his trek on social media, including the influencer known as Ebonyi Son, sharing updates as Jasper passed through towns and states.
Encouraged by this backing, he set out on foot, walking through towns and villages across multiple states, stopping at bus parks and small roadside eateries to rest along the way.
On Day 8, posts showed him still strong on the road, and by Day 20 he had reached Benin City while still continuing south. By Day 27, Jasper himself posted that he was still walking toward Lagos, and later posts showed him on Day 33 still making progress toward the city’s gates.
Social media posts show him resting at bus stops and sharing brief updates with followers, who continue to cheer him on while expressing concern for his safety.
Sources say Davido personally requested that the young man cancel his journey, but he reportedly pressed on, driven by his determination to meet his idol.
However, since arriving in Lagos after more than a month on the road supporters online say Davido has refused to see Jasper or even take a photo with him as is his wish.
The trekker, according to sources, has been seen wandering streets and neighborhoods, asking locals for food to feed himself as he awaits an opportunity to meet Davido. Clips shared by people who bumped into him show him resting at bus stops and small street corners, asking strangers for meals as he navigates the sprawling city.
Many social media users have expressed admiration for his grit and resilience, the walk from Abakaliki to Lagos covers hundreds of kilometres on foot but others worry aloud about how exposed and vulnerable he is in a big city without money or a plan for accommodation and food.
The trek has sparked conversations about the extremes some fans are willing to go through to see their idols.
