Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, apologised to Nigerians over the persistent electricity outages affecting many parts of the country.
The apology was made during a press briefing in Abuja, where the minister acknowledged the growing frustration among citizens and businesses over the unstable power supply. He described the situation as regrettable and admitted that the outages have had a significant impact on homes, schools, industries, and small businesses.
Adelabu attributed the challenges in the power sector to a combination of gas supply constraints, ageing infrastructure, and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening electricity generation and distribution. He noted that these long-standing issues have continued to affect the stability of the national grid.
“I apologise to Nigerians for the inconveniences caused by the power outages. We understand the difficulties this has created,” he said.
The minister, however, assured Nigerians that efforts are underway to address the problems, stating that the Federal Government is implementing measures to stabilise the grid and improve electricity supply across the country. He expressed optimism that noticeable improvements would be recorded in the coming weeks as interventions begin to take effect.
The apology comes amid increasing public concern over repeated power failures and prolonged blackouts, which have disrupted economic activities and daily life in several parts of the country.
