Support Tinubu’s Re-election so Bodo-Bonny Road Can be Completed – Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has called on stakeholders in the Niger Delta to support the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying continuity in leadership is crucial for the completion of the Bodo-Bonny Road project.

Umahi made the appeal during a medallion award ceremony organised by the Bodo-Bonny Road and Bridges Peace Committee in Abuja. He was represented at the event by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo.

He described the road as a major infrastructure project that will connect riverine communities in Rivers State to the mainland, noting that its completion would significantly boost economic activities, improve access, and enhance security in the area.

The minister disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the second phase of the project, with plans underway to commence work. He stressed that sustained progress on the road would depend on policy continuity beyond the current administration.

Umahi urged residents and stakeholders along the Bodo-Bonny corridor to rally behind the President to ensure that ongoing infrastructure projects are completed within the expected timeframe.

The Bodo-Bonny Road links Bonny Island, a hub for key oil and gas facilities, to the rest of the state. Its completion is expected to reduce dependence on water transport, ease the movement of goods and people, and open up new opportunities for development in the region.

Stakeholders at the event also commended the Federal Government for advancing the project, describing it as a long-awaited development after years of setbacks linked to funding and technical challenges.

The project, supported through a mix of public and private funding, remains a strategic effort aimed at improving connectivity and driving growth in Nigeria’s oil-producing communities.
