“I’m Celebrating My Birthday Lowkey, in Line with the Mood of the Nation” — Tinubu Turns 74

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians for their outpouring of goodwill on the occasion of his 74th birthday, affirming his commitment to national service and the ongoing efforts of his administration.

In a message released on Sunday, the President thanked citizens for their “messages, show of love and prayers” as he marked another year in his journey of life. He also acknowledged the support and solidarity shown by both ordinary Nigerians and public figures across the country.

President Tinubu extended special gratitude to those who took “space in newspapers” and paid for “air time on radio and television” to send him birthday wishes. He also thanked his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, for her heartfelt words, and Vice President Kashim Shettima for his warm tributes.

Consistent with his long‑standing tradition, the President said he chose to observe his birthday in a subdued manner this year, in keeping with the “mood of the nation.”

“I resolved to also observe this year’s birthday low key,” the President said, emphasizing his sense of responsibility and solidarity with Nigerians during challenging times.

Reflecting on the nation’s progress, President Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties that have accompanied reforms implemented by his government, but noted that there are signs of positive momentum.

He stated that the sacrifices made by Nigerians have not been in vain and that “we can see some glittering light at the end of the tunnel,” despite economic pressures partly linked to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

The President emphasized that the achievements of his administration are the result of collective effort, attributing successes not just to himself and his Renewed Hope team, but to all citizens who have supported the government’s agenda.

As his administration approaches its third anniversary, President Tinubu reaffirmed his determination to tackle Nigeria’s pressing challenges, pledging that with continued unity and cooperation, the nation will make further strides.

“We are determined to confront some of the challenges we face today, and with your continued support, we shall overcome,” he said, urging renewed efforts to build “a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa.”

President Tinubu’s birthday message closed with gratitude and optimism as he thanked Nigerians once again for their support and prayers.
