Army Announces Night Live Firing Exercise, Urges Residents Not To Panic 

The Headquarters of the 14 Brigade HQ Nigerian Army Ebem Ohafia, Abia State has notified residents of Ohafia and surrounding communities of an upcoming night live firing exercise scheduled to take place as part of ongoing military training activities.

In a press release issued by the Brigade, the Army stated that the 4-day night live firing exercise will commence from Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks Shooting Range.

According to the statement signed by Captain Muyiwa Ayara on behalf of the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the exercise is aimed at enhancing the fighting efficiency and improving the night operational capabilities of personnel.

The Nigerian Army advised members of the public not to panic upon hearing gunshots during the period, emphasizing that the sounds will be part of a routine training exercise.

Residents, particularly hunters and unauthorized individuals, were strongly warned to stay away from the shooting range and its environs throughout the duration of the exercise in the interest of safety.

The Army reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and property, while appreciating the continued cooperation and understanding of residents.

The Brigade also called on the public to widely disseminate the information to ensure adequate awareness and prevent unnecessary alarm.
