2027: Ex-Abia Assembly Speaker Declares for Reps Seat

Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Orji made the declaration in Umuahia while addressing a gathering of supporters, stating that his decision was driven by a desire to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the development of the constituency.

The former Speaker, who led the Abia State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023, said his legislative experience has equipped him with the capacity to provide effective and quality representation at the national level.

Speaking during the event, Orji expressed appreciation for the support he has received and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

“I am encouraged by the confidence reposed in me, and I remain committed to working with the people to build a constituency that delivers for everyone,” he said.

He added that his ambition is focused on strengthening representation, attracting development, and ensuring that the voices of Ikwuano/Umuahia constituents are well represented at the National Assembly.

Orji had previously contested for the same House of Representatives seat in the 2023 general election.

His declaration signals early political alignment ahead of the 2027 elections, as aspirants begin to position themselves across various constituencies nationwide.
