APC Group Condemns Vandalism of Tinubu Billboards, Seeks Arrests

An All Progressives Congress support group has urged security agencies to apprehend those responsible for vandalising billboards bearing the image of Bola Tinubu in parts of Ondo State, warning that political expression must not descend into destruction of property.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director-General of the Ondo Mandate Group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, told journalists during a briefing on Friday that the incident, which occurred in areas within the Akure metropolis, represents a threat to democratic values.

“Political expression must never descend into vandalism. Destroying the President’s billboards is an attack on democratic culture and the will of millions who stand with him. We urge all lovers of peace to resist such tendencies and report those responsible to law enforcement,” he said.

Asagunla maintained that such actions would not intimidate the group or slow down its grassroots mobilisation efforts, reiterating its resolve to secure a decisive victory for Tinubu in the state during the 2027 general elections.

He noted that the group has been actively engaging communities across all 203 wards in the state, mobilising women, youths, and the elderly with the aim of surpassing the votes recorded for Tinubu in the 2023 election.

“We have left no ward untouched. Our mobilisation machinery is reaching every hamlet, every market and every constituency. The message is clear: Ondo State will speak with one loud voice for President Tinubu in 2027,” he added.

Marking the Easter celebration, Asagunla also called on Christians to embrace the values of sacrifice, humility, and selflessness as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

“Easter transcends the festive pomp and pageantry. It is a season that calls on all believers to reflect deeply on the life of Christ, His unwavering commitment to service, His spirit of forgiveness, and His ultimate sacrifice for humanity,” he said.
