Soldiers Rescue 31 Worshippers Abducted During Easter Service in Kaduna

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 31 worshippers who were abducted during an Easter Sunday church service in the Kaduna State community of Ariko.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 5, when suspected terrorists attacked an Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) congregation in Ariko Village, located in the Kachia Local Government Area. Reports indicate the assailants seized several congregants during the service, prompting a swift military response.

The military operation led to the release of the 31 worshippers, including one person who was wounded and is now receiving medical care. However, the army also confirmed that the bodies of five victims believed to have been killed by the attackers were found at the scene.

In response to the attack, additional troops have been deployed to the area to reinforce security and prevent further threats to residents. The army reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to share credible information with security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore peace.

As of the time of this report, authorities have not yet released further details about the identities of the victims or any arrests connected to the attack.
