Trump Agrees to Two-Week Suspension of Iran Bombing Amid Ceasefire Talks

United States President, Donald Trump, has announced a temporary suspension of planned military strikes against Iran, signaling a possible pause in rising tensions between both countries.

In a statement posted on social media on Tuesday, Trump said he agreed to halt bombing operations for two weeks, on the condition that Iran fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route.

“Subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” he said.

The announcement came shortly before a previously indicated deadline for intensified military action, marking a shift toward a more diplomatic approach.

The development is believed to be part of ongoing ceasefire discussions aimed at easing tensions and preventing further escalation. Trump described the arrangement as a temporary measure to allow room for negotiations between both sides.

The conflict has raised concerns globally, particularly due to the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes. Any disruption to the route has implications for global energy markets and economic stability.

While Iran has signaled possible cooperation regarding the reopening of the waterway, uncertainties remain over the sustainability of the proposed truce.

Analysts say the two-week pause could provide a critical window for dialogue, but caution that the situation remains delicate, with no comprehensive agreement yet in place.
