President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed condolences over the killing of Nigerian soldiers during recent operations in Borno State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and strengthening the country’s security forces.
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the President praised ongoing military operations, noting that troops have been conducting “sustained, intense land and air offensives” against insurgents, which he said have led to the neutralisation of several fighters and commanders. He described the recent counterattacks by insurgents as “a sign of desperation.”
Tinubu specifically mourned the death of senior military officers and personnel, including Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who he said “made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of our country in Borno State.” He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the Armed Forces, and the government and people of Borno State.

According to him, the sacrifices of fallen troops “will not be in vain,” stressing that the courage of soldiers on the frontline continues to strengthen Nigeria’s resolve to eliminate insecurity across the country.
The President also delivered a message of encouragement to the military leadership and personnel, urging them: “Do not lose heart, do not be weary, do not be discouraged,” while assuring them of continued government support in terms of equipment and welfare.
He further called on Nigerians and the media to support the Armed Forces and avoid any form of celebration or justification of attacks against security personnel, describing them as “heroes” of the nation.
Tinubu concluded by reiterating that the Federal Government will continue working with the Borno State government to achieve “total victory and lasting peace” in the fight against insurgency and banditry.
