Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Isah, has openly challenged Ahmed Usman Ododo after losing the APC senatorial primary election in the state.
The lawmaker declared that “the battle line has been drawn” between himself and the Kogi governor following the outcome of the primary, which he described as unfair and manipulated.
Jibrin, who contested alongside six other aspirants for the APC ticket, alleged that electoral materials meant for the exercise were hijacked by government agents to influence the process in favour of preferred interests.
According to him, several wards across Kogi East were left without electoral officials and voting materials, preventing party members from participating in the exercise.
The senator expressed shock that he reportedly secured only two votes in his own ward, insisting that the process did not reflect the will of party members.
Speaking after the primary, he accused powerful forces within the party of deliberately frustrating his supporters and undermining his political structure across the district.
Jibrin also stated that despite his loyalty to the APC and Governor Ododo, he was being targeted over fears that he could challenge the governor politically in the future.
Reacting to the development, the senator said, “Well, with the latest development, I will now contest for the governorship position against Governor Ododo when the time comes.”
He further maintained that his performance and projects across Kogi East had strengthened the APC in the district and would continue to benefit the party and its candidates.
The senator called on the leadership of the APC to investigate the alleged irregularities surrounding the primary election and ensure fairness within the party’s internal democratic process.
