President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on achieving the milestone of becoming India’s longest-serving elected prime minister.

In a statement issued on Tuesday from the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu described the achievement as a reflection of the confidence and trust that the Indian people have continued to place in Modi’s leadership over three consecutive terms in office.

The Nigerian president praised Modi’s dedication to public service and his contributions to India’s development, noting that his leadership has earned recognition both at home and internationally.

“This remarkable achievement reflects the enduring confidence and trust the people of India have reposed in his leadership over three consecutive mandates,” Tinubu said.

He added that Modi’s commitment to national development and his role on the global stage continue to inspire millions around the world.

Tinubu also highlighted the cordial relationship between both leaders, describing the Indian prime minister as a trusted friend and ally of Nigeria.

“Beyond being a great friend of Nigeria, Prime Minister Modi is a personal friend and trusted ally whom I can always count on,” the President stated.

According to Tinubu, he has come to admire Modi’s wisdom, courage and commitment to advancing the prosperity of India over the years.

The President further noted that Modi, a recipient of Nigeria’s national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), has played a significant role in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and India.

“As a distinguished recipient of Nigeria’s national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), he has also contributed immensely to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries,” Tinubu said.

On behalf of the Nigerian government and its people, the President wished Modi continued good health, wisdom and success as he continues to lead India.
