Peter Obi Faces Fresh Petition For Allegedly Travelling With Passenger Using Different Identities

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has been accused in a fresh petition of allegedly travelling with a passenger said to have used different identities on commercial flights.

The petition, dated July 12, 2026, was addressed to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. Copies were also sent to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The document was reportedly submitted by an individual who identified himself as a concerned employee within Nigeria’s aviation sector. The petitioner called for an immediate investigation, alleging repeated violations of aviation security procedures, regulatory requirements and passenger safety involving Obi and a female traveller.

According to the petition, the woman, described as one of Obi’s media aides, had previously been barred from flying with Air Peace over alleged repeated misconduct and confrontations at airport facilities.

It further alleged that despite the airline’s ban, she continued to board Air Peace flights by using different names, with Obi allegedly accompanying her on several of those trips.

The petitioner also claimed that Obi allegedly facilitated arrangements that allowed the passenger to continue travelling under different identities despite the airline’s restrictions.

The petition stated, “Despite this restriction, Peter Obi made arrangements repeatedly for this media thug to continue travelling under a different name in order to circumvent the airline’s decision.

“Such conduct by him undermines aviation security, compromises passenger identification procedures, and interferes with our airline’s ability to enforce lawful safety measures.”

The petitioner further alleged that airport officials were repeatedly unable to carry out proper identity verification whenever Obi travelled with the woman.

“Every time we stop her, he prevents us from checking her identity, even after she is reported by our staff on ground. Evidence of these flight tickets have also been attached as he is even on some of the Passenger Name Record, PNR,” the petition added.
