Gunmen Kill Nigerian Army Colonel in Abuja Attack

A serving officer of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Abdussalam Ude, has reportedly been killed by gunmen during an attack at his home in the Kurudu area of Abuja.

According to sources, the incident happened on Monday evening shortly after the senior military officer returned from work.

The attackers were said to have stormed the residence in what was believed to be an attempted kidnapping targeting either the officer or members of his family. During the attack, Colonel Ude was shot dead, while his wife, driver and security guard sustained gunshot wounds.

The injured victims were rushed to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

Authorities have yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the attack, and the motive behind the assault remains unknown.

Security operatives and military authorities have reportedly launched an investigation aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible.

Colonel Ude, an indigene of Enugu State, served in the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps and held several key intelligence and counter-terrorism positions throughout his career.

He was involved in military operations against insurgents in Nigeria’s North-East and also served on international assignments in the Republic of Chad and France, where he contributed to intelligence and security collaboration.

Colleagues reportedly described him as a committed and highly professional officer.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Army had not released an official statement on the incident.
