US Returns Diezani Madueke’s $52.88M in Assets to Nigeria

The united state of America, US has returned over $52.88m worth of assets to Nigeria linking to former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison Madueke.

This information was disclosed during the formal signing of the assets in Abuja on Friday, by the attorney general and minister of justice of the federation, Lateef fagbemi.

During the signing ceremony between Nigerian and the US in Abuja, Fagbemi explained how the assets would be utilized for the betterment of the country and the people.

In his narration, he mentioned that $50m of the assets would be channeled to the development of rural electrification projects. He said the money would be deployed through the world bank.

Furthermore, he said that the remaining part of the money which amounted about $2m, would be channeled to expanding the justice system and combating corruption.

“This is a significant step by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing corruption” he said

However, during the presentation, the ambassador of the US to Nigeria asked that the returned assets be closely monitored.

He also asked for the minister of justice to ensure the assets are used effectively to benefit Nigeria and her citizens.
