However, during the briefing, Mr Awhen stated that the suspect is not from Akwa Ibom.

“The arrest we had on organ harvesting, the person involved is not from Akwa Ibom. So when we have such cases, we usually refer to the mother state. Our own is just to do the job and do a referral to the person’s state and let justice take Its full course.” He said.

Going further in his statement, Mr Awhen stated how rampant organ harvesting and trafficking has become. He also mentioned how a lot of clinics and hospitals in the town are involved in the act.

Meanwhile, the state coordinator of the network in charge of Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour educated people on the psychological and emotional dangers of child and human trafficking.

“We need to also sensitize our communities against these dangers because some of them innocently go into it.” He said.
