Missing Pastor’s Decomposed Remains Found in His Residence After 15 Months
45-year old missing pastor, Esere Okilo, has reportedly been found decomposed in his own apartment in Bayelsa state after 15 months of looking for him.
The deceased who hails from Nembe Bassambiri had his remains found in his residence in Jacob Beredugo Street, Ekeki Yenagoa, Bayelsa.
Apparently, the remains were discovered by the pastor’s sister who said she had gone there because she was having accomodation issues only to find the man’s body on his toilet as she looked through the window, he had only his singlet on and was already decomposed to skeleton. Meanwhile, neighbors and other residents maintain that they didn’t perceive any odor from the house while Okilo was reported missing.
Interestingly, according to testimonies from the neighbors and others, the deceased was a very reserved person and devoted man of God who kept mostly to himself. His siblings also confirmed that they were not in talking terms.
Following the discovery, the door of the toilet where his remain was found was bolted from inside, making the circumstances surrounding the death more mysterious.
Speaking further on the mysterious incident, neighbors said they thought the man of God had gone on a church program outside town, as usual.
However, another neighbor said that the police arrested the deceased’s elder brother who lived in the same building with Okilo together with his wife (Okilo occupied 2 bedroom flat), for allegedly covering up his death.
Speaking on the incident, a source from the police command said that medical specialists from the Federal medical centre confirmed that formalin drops were found on the corpse alleged to have been sprinkled to cover up the odor from the corpse.
However, efforts to reach the public relations officer of the Bayelsa state police command has not been successful yet to get comment on the incident.
The remains have reportedly been evacuated by the operatives of the Ekeki Police division.
