Tinubu Opens Army Barrack in Abuja, Promises to Prioritize Soldiers’ Welfare
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has on Thursday, assured Nigerian force members of his administration’s dedication to making sure that troops are well taken care of.
Presenting his speech at the inauguration of the ‘Bola Tinubu Barracks’ in Abuja, the president said;
“Knowing that the federal government is always ready to provide what our troops need to fulfill their mandates is essential for winning battles.”
Addressing them as ‘our heros’ the president further thanked members of the Nigerian Force for what they have been doing for the country and promised them that their welfare would never be compromised.
Dedicating the barracks to their ‘welfare’ the president urged men and women in uniform to ensure proper maintenance culture of the accomodation.
Further in his speech, the president highlighted that the Chief of Army staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede had earlier complained that a lot of Army staff were not accommodated (40%). He said that one of the major challenges of the army was solved.
“The barracks contains a total of 614 accomodations; 16 Major General Quarters, 17 Beginner General Quarters, 3 by 20 Family Major to Colonel Quarters, 30 by 20 Family Lieutenant to Captain Quarters and 60 by 30 Family Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Quarters.” Ayodele highlighted the specifications of the barracks.
Also, he noted that there are worship centres in the barracks and expressed faith in Tinubu’s administration saying that more are coming; “This is just a drop in the ocean” the army Chief of Staff said.
