The strike is due to non payment of salaries to Teachers dating back to October last year despite the directive of the Governor to the Council Chairman to pay the workers their salaries before Christmas last year.

The affected LGAs are Ebonyi, Ivo, Edda, Ezza South, Ezza North, Ishielu and Ohaukwu.
