I’ll Raise Them Not To Feel Entitled to women’s Body – Chimamnda Adiche Reaffirms Commitment to Raising Principled Men
47-year-old award winning international writer, Chimamanda Adichie, in an interview with BBC, reaffirmed her dedication to raising her boys not to feel entitled to women’s body.
The renowned author who recently gave birth to twin boys, emphasized her commitment to inculcating in her sons, principles that promote gender equality and respect for women.
“I’m determined to raise good men. I’m thinking about how to make them never feel entitled to women’s bodies.
“In general, little girls now have women in public life they can admire. But I don’t think boys have that in the same way,” she noted. “That space is instead occupied by noxious characters and ideas. I wish the good men would stand up,” she said.
The author who has openly expressed her believe in feminism even through her works, mentioned that culture should not control us rather, we should control culture because we made it.
She emphasized on the need to remake masculinity in a way that it would be compatible with equality as against the known “culture”.
She said; “it can be done.”
