I Can’t Take Orders From a Sole Administrator – Ejike George Reveals Why He Resigned
Ex Rivers Chief Magistrate, Ejike George, has revealed his reason for resigning from the state judiciary.
Disclosing this in an interview on Thursday, George noted that the military style of adjudication in the state would be difficult for him to adapt to which is why he resigned. He further disagreed with the suspension of Fubara and other members of the Assembly stating that it was uncalled for.
“The reason I resigned is simply because I cannot adapt to the military style of adjudication that would be introduced by the reason of the sole administrator.
“I am simply saying that I cannot take instructions from a military administrator. I cannot,” he said.
The magistrate who served for 16 years maintained that he was only trained to take orders from his employer –the chief judge; and the Elected Governor which makes the recent power change new to him and not easy to adapt to.
“In the entire 16 years that I served with the Rivers State Judiciary, I have taken instructions from civilian administrators. I do not know how I am going to adapt and now begin to take instructions from a military administrator. I find it very strange,” he said.
He further discarded claims that he was compulsorily retired and not voluntary resignation— stating that he had done his job diligently and never faced any panel like the statement claimed. The ex-magistrate also challenged for evidence to be published that he faced disciplinary panel for lagging.
Earlier, in a statement signed by Blessing Vic-Jumbo, Esq. AG Secretary, the state Government had debunked that George, on 25th February, 2025 was compulsorily retired by the judiciary service commission following continuous complaints of his absence from work.
The commission also urged the general public to be guided and not swayed into believing George’s claim that he voluntarily resigned.
“I never faced any panel for any misconduct.
“Let them publish any report if there is one. I resigned on my own accord,” George said.
