My Tomb Must be In Earth – Pope Francis’ Will Reveals How He Wants To Be Buried
The vatican has revealed that the Late Pope Francis wished not to be buried with any adornments or title.
According to his will which was read on Monday, same day of his passing, the pope asked to be buried in his house in Roman basilica, Santa Maria Maggiore.
In the will, the 88 year old pontiff who had been sick before his passing specified with a diagram, the exact spot he wanted to be buried in the aforementioned place.
Dated 29th June 2022, the will read;
“Feeling that the sunset of my earthly life is approaching and with lively hope in Eternal Life, I wish to express my testamentary will only as regards the place of my burial.
“I ask that my mortal remains rest awaiting the day of the resurrection in the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
“The tomb must be in the earth; simple, without particular decoration and with the only inscription: Franciscus.
“Lord, give the deserved reward to those who loved me and will continue to pray for me.
“I offered the suffering that became present in the last part of my life to the Lord for world peace and brotherhood among peoples.”
