According to the Vatican, no fewer than 400,000 people packed St Peter’s Square and lined the streets of Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis for final good-bye.
Being the first Latin American leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics, the pontiff was buried today, Saturday, 26th April, 2025, in basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
In the early hours of the day, the Pope’s coffin arrived the venue in white popemobile — according to the Vatican.
Those in Attendance included Donald Trump of the US, Guatemalan Maria Vicente, and others among the 400,000.
Arriving the venue, about Fourteen white-gloved pallbearers lifted the coffin into the church, little children placed baskets of flowers at the altar as the choir sang.
Many sang the price of the Pope while he was sent to be with the lord and wished that his soul rests in peace. He died at 88.
NEWSMAXNG had reported that the Pope in his will read by the Vatican, stated where and how he wanted to be buried before his death.
