23-Year Old Arraigned For Stabbing Boyfriend Over Cheating Allegation
The Police have arraigned 23-year-old Abigail Victor before a Kaduna Court under Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend whom she suspected was cheating on her.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, the incident occurred on May 17, 2025, at Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.
From the court proceedings on Wednesday, Abigail is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and causing bodily harm. The prosecutor also stated that the offences are contrary to Sections 58 and 284 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
In section 58, it grants a one-year prison sentence on conviction for conspiracy, while Section 284 carries a minimum of five years imprisonment for causing injury.
Inspector Leo told the court that Abigail, who resides in Ungwan Sunday, in Kaduna State stabbed her boyfriend identified as Dominic James after she accused him of cheating, a misunderstanding which led to a fight and she called her friends to beat him. In the cause of the fight, Abigail was said to have picked a knife and stabbed James.
While the fight was on going, neighbors had intervened, separated the fight and took the injured James to the hospital for treatment.
“In anger, she reportedly called two friends who joined her at the complainant’s residence, where they allegedly beat him and stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife,” the prosecutor said.
However, Abigail pleaded not guilty to the charges against her and was granted N200,000 bail with one surety who must be a blood relative.
In like manner, the court mandated that the surety must be able to present evidence of three years of tax clearance from the Kaduna State Government as the case was adjourned to June 17, 2025.
