The Former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has sent his deepest condolences to the victims of Niger and Kano States disasters. No fewer than 151 person persons died in Niger while about 22 athletes on their way to national sports festival were involved in a fatal accident which took lives of about 19 persons while others were severely injured.

In a statement by Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Sunday, the former president described the incident as painful and devastating stating that the news left him in Shock.

“I am deeply pained by the loss of lives due to the floods in Niger state and the road accident in Kano state. The deaths are painful and devastating.

“Condolences to the families and friends of all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon,” he said
