Join Us For a Better Nigeria – PDP Begs Peter Obi, Others

The Anambra chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has begged all its former members including the 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi to rejoin the party.

The party made this plea via a statement signed by Chidi Chidebe, Chairman of PDP in Anambra as discussed at the enlarged meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) to review the state of the party and chart a way forward in Awka on Thursday.

During the meeting, Chidebe also disclosed that the party had unanimously nominated Chief Clems Ezike as the National Ex-Officio from Anambra.

While Obi was formerly under the PDP, he had defected to the Labour Party following his presidential ambition. Meanwhile, the PDP has stated that alliances with ideologically incompatible political formations in the guise of coalitions would likely not yield the desired success.

“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Anambra, particularly our revered former governor, Mr Peter Obi, to return home and reunite with the now rejuvenated and restructured PDP.

“We will gladly welcome our brothers and sisters back to join us in the collective quest for a better Nigeria.

“We call on the good people of Anambra to remain steadfast in their historic support for the PDP and to come out en masse to vote for our candidates,” he said.

He also urged the Anambra electorate to show maximum support to Mr Jude Ezenwafor and, Mr Francis Okeke, his running mate, in the coming election.

Additionally while, Chidebe appreciated the Anambra PDP leadership for overseeing to a successful National Executive Committee meeting which held on 27th May, 2025 wherein some internal crisis were resolved —he urged INEC to ensure that the upcoming election maintains a fair, transparent, and impartial electoral process.
