Tragedy has befallen traders in a popular wood and timber market known as Kara market in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, as fire broke out and consumed the market and goods in its entirety.
NEWSMAXNG gathered that the fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, with no one knowing the actual cause. Goods worth millions of naira were destroyed.
An eyewitness ide tidied as Musa Bello who happens to be a traded at the market said; “We just saw smoke everywhere, and before we knew it, the flames had engulfed most of the shops.”
Meanwhile, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the state Governor on New Media, Abuzaid Yari, the government of the state sympathized with victims of the outbreak. He further stated that the Government of the state is committed to protecting the lives and properties of residents of the state.
“The government sympathises deeply with the victims and prays that Allah replenishes their losses.
“We appreciate the swift action of the fire service, whose efforts prevented further damage,” the statement read.
