Evangelist Helen Ukpabio, the founder of the African Evangelical Franchise Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries in Calabar, the capital city of cross River, has stated that ‘Happy Birthday’ is a devilish language.

In one of the Evangelist’s Sunday sermon footage seen by NEWSMAXNG on Thursday, she suggested that wishing people Happy birthday is like selling out one’s soul to the devil.

She further disclosed that she always correct big men who would call on her birthday to sing the happy birthday song to say “Happy Thanksgiving” instead.

According to her, all her birthday celebrations always have “Thanking God” instead of Happy birthday. The evangelist further cited her 60th birthday disclosing that she used “Thanking God at 60” instead of anything else.

She also questioned people who go about saying happy birthday; “who is giving you happy and birthday?” she asked.

She said; ” I am not somebody that does birthday every year, every year like zombie. I don’t sell out my soul to Satan like that. Don’t use the language of the devil. You see people that are saying happy birthday, happy birthday, who is giving you happy and birthday?

“Those are the pleasantries people exchange. It is modern day idolatry.”

Evangelist Ukpabio went further to condemn some christians singing the happy birthday song on the pulpit, advising believers to not proclaim anything they don’t get spiritually.

The lady apostle also clarified that letting people sing the happy birthday song or wish a happy birthday on ones birthday is letting them worship the day and practicing idolatry.
