JUST IN!!! Dangote Retires, New Chairman Emerges

Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc (DSR) has announced that its Chairman and CEO, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has retired from his position as it appoints Mr Arnold Ekpe as the new chairman.

Dangote’s retirement is to take effect from June 16, 2025 as the board says it aligns with principles of good corporate governance and succession planning.

This announcement was contained in a statement signed by the company’s secretary, Temitope Hassan, on Wednesday.

It read; “Alhaji Aliko Dangote is one of the founding Directors of the Company, and has served with exceptional leadership, integrity, and vision since 2005.

“Under his leadership, Dangote Sugar Refinery transformed, navigated significant industry developments, delivered consistent shareholders value, and maintained a strong focus on good governance.

“His long-term growth is evident by its extensive Backward Integration Projects in Adamawa, Taraba and Nasarawa states.

“He also played an instrumental role in shaping the company’s strategy and culture thereby building a robust foundation for growth and sustenance.”

On the new leadership, the statement added;

“Following a rigorous selection and transition process, the Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Arnold Ekpe, Independent Non-Executive Director as the new Chairman of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. effective 16th June 2025.

“His strategic acumen, deep understanding of corporate governance, and commitment to stakeholder value make him well-positioned to lead the board as we continue to build on our strong foundations and pursue sustainable growth.

“We welcome Mr. Ekpe to his new role and look forward to the next chapter in our Company’s journey under his leadership. We also express our deep appreciation to Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his years of exemplary service and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
