Two Children Found Dead After Heavy Flood in Niger State

The dead body of two children; a boy and a 9-year-old girl were discovered in a drainage after a heavy rainfall in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday.

According to the residents, they had thought that only the Edo girl was carried by the flood in Tunga community, Minna.

They disclosed that it was at the time the girl’s father was contacted to identify his daughter that a young boy was also discovered to have been also carried by the flood.

The girl who was the only daughter of her parents’ three chidlren was sent to the market accompanied by her 11-year old brother

According to the information gathered by NEWSMAX online, the two siblings were on their way when the rain that had stopped for a while became heavy and the drainage and roads were flooded immediately.

Sadly, after the children were done and returning from the market, the little was swept by the flood and her brother cried out for help but none came due to the force of the flood.

The villagers reportedly watched helplessly while the little girl was swept away and the boy ran home to inform their parents.

When the father was contacted, he was told that his little girl was discovered at a tunnel on Mandela Street which is more than five kilometers from where the flood carried her.

Another little boy was also discovered with her.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA, Hussaine Ibrahim, when contacted , could not confirm the incident but said it was tragic and saddening.

He promised to lead the agency to the village and homes of the children to find out situation report.
