A staff member of the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Mr. Ikenna Onuoha, has been reportedly confirmed dead after he was allegedly strangled by unidentified assailants who later dumped his body by the roadside.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night at Ameke, along Isiadu Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area.
According to Mr. Bright Nwabuko, Coordinator of the Otawike Security Outfit in Umuahia, the victim’s lifeless body was abandoned by the assailants, who were said to have arrived in a Toyota Sienna before fleeing the scene.
Police authorities later recovered the body, which has since been deposited at a mortuary.
Until his death, Mr. Onuoha was attached to the Maternity and Theatre Unit of FMC Umuahia. He is survived by his wife and young children.
Friends, colleagues, and concerned residents have called on the Police to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing, identify those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
