Let Easter Give Us Hope of a Better Nigeria Ahead – Peter Obi

The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and resilient despite the country’s current economic and governance challenges.

In an Easter message shared on X on Sunday, Obi encouraged citizens not to lose faith, noting that difficult times are temporary and can give way to national renewal.

“Let Easter give us hope of a better Nigeria ahead,” he wrote, adding that the season symbolises sacrifice, perseverance, and eventual triumph.

Referencing the significance of the Christian celebration, Obi stated, “As we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ… we encourage you to remain steadfast in hope.” He further noted that present challenges should not define the country’s future, saying, “Good Friday must come before Easter Sunday.”

The former Anambra State governor acknowledged the economic hardship facing many Nigerian families, expressing empathy with citizens struggling to cope.

“We understand the heavy burden many families are carrying as a result of economic hardship… we urge you not to lose heart,” he said, describing the situation as a collective trial that could lead to renewal if properly managed.

Obi also highlighted concerns about governance and its impact on citizens’ daily lives but maintained that there is still room for progress. According to him, the message of Easter offers reassurance that positive change is possible.

“A better Nigeria is possible when we, together, choose accountability, compassion, and responsible leadership,” he stated.

Expressing optimism about the future, Obi said he believes the country can overcome its current difficulties through unity and determination.

“Though the road may be rough, we believe in a Nigeria that works for everyone,” he added.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to draw strength from the Easter season, calling for renewed faith, collective responsibility, and commitment to building a more just and prosperous nation.
