Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Brother in Cross River

A 45-year-old man has been arrested by police in Cross River State for allegedly killing his younger brother with a machete in a late-night attack.

The incident occurred at Igbo Imabana village in Abi Local Government Area, where the victim was reportedly attacked around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. The case was later reported to the police in the early hours of the following day by a family member.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Sunday Akata, said officers from the Abi Division responded after receiving the report. He noted that operatives visited the scene, documented evidence, and evacuated the victim’s body to a mortuary.

The suspect, identified as Emereze Okoro, was subsequently arrested and is currently in police custody, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Police authorities added that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend any other individuals who may be connected to the incident, as investigations continue.
