Popular Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Face or 2Baba, has ignited widespread reactions following his recent remarks that Nigeria has improved compared to past years.
The music legend made the statement during an interview on Wazobia TV, where he reflected on the country’s socio-political development over time. According to him, despite ongoing challenges, there has been noticeable progress when compared to previous decades.
“We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” he said, expressing a personal assessment of the nation’s trajectory.
2Face further noted that he sees himself as a representative of Nigeria on the global stage, adding that he is committed to portraying the country positively wherever he goes. He described himself as a “self-appointed ambassador” working to contribute, in his own way, to national development.
The singer also clarified that he has no immediate plans to venture into politics, but intends to continue engaging in advocacy and promoting civic responsibility.
However, his comments have sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians, particularly on social media. While some supporters agreed with his optimistic outlook, others criticized the statement, citing persistent issues such as economic hardship, insecurity, and governance challenges.
The remarks come at a time when many citizens continue to express concerns over the country’s current conditions, making the singer’s position a subject of intense public discourse.
