SHOCKING: Five Children Found Dead In Abandoned Car

The Nasarawa police have confirmed that five children —including two different siblings were found dead in a car abandoned at the Agyaragu community, Obi Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Ramhan Nansel — who confirmed the news said it happened on Sunday and the children were confirmed already dead when they were rushed to the hospital upon discovery.

Nansel disclosed that a resident of the area had reported the discovery at the police station around 5:30pm and the said abandoned vehicle was parked in the compound of  one Mr. Abu Agyeme who also resides in the area.

The victims —Kamsi Onah: M 8 years, Somer Onah: M 6 years, Unice Udouchi: 10 years F, Nmasoma Nnaji: 10 years F, and Chioma Nnaji: 8 years F—were suspected to have suffocated to death.

“On May 4, 2025, at about 1730hrs, one Mr. Ozimna Ogbor, a resident of Agyaragu, reported at the Agyaragu Divisional Headquarters that five children—Kamsi Onah (male, 8 years), Somer Onah (male, 6 years), Unice Udouchi (female, 10 years), Nmasoma Nnaji (female, 10 years), and Chioma Nnaji (female, 8 years)—were discovered unresponsive inside a disused vehicle parked in the compound of one Mr. Abu Agyeme, also a resident of Agyaragu.

“Acting swiftly on the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, directed the Divisional Police Officer and his team to immediately proceed to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the officers found the victims locked inside the abandoned vehicle. The children were promptly evacuated to Aro Hospital, Agyaragu, where a medical doctor regrettably confirmed all five children dead due to suspected suffocation,” he said.

The spokesperson also recounted how a similar incident had happened in Keffi back in 2019 when two children were discovered dead in a parked vehicle.

He further stated that the state Commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed has ordered a thorough investigation into the case to ascertain what really happened.

While Nansel communicated the commissioners expression of sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the families of the children — he urged parents/guardians to be extra vigilant and watch their children closely.

He cautioned that parents and guardians should make sure they are aware of their children’s whereabouts every minute and also advised car owners to check their cars every now and then —even while it is parked and before they use it — especially if there are children around.

He also disclosed that the bodies of the dead children were sent over to their parents on their request, for burial — after severe heat burns were discovered on the bodies.

Consequently, the Publicity Secretary of the Migili Youth Association (MYA), Comrade Samuel Akala —also confirmed the incident and said it was tragic.
