Terrorists Cannot Find Safety Anywhere in Nigeria — Tinubu Reacts to Maiduguri Bombings from UK
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, describing the violence as “desperate” acts by insurgents under sustained pressure from Nigerian forces.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries recorded in the attacks, while extending solidarity to residents of Borno State.
“These acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals… trying to instil and spread fear,” Tinubu said.
He insisted that the attackers were being weakened by ongoing military operations and would ultimately be defeated.
“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.”

The President revealed that he had recently approved additional military equipment and operational support to strengthen ongoing counterterrorism efforts, noting that the deployment is already underway.
He also issued immediate directives for top security officials to relocate to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation on ground.
“I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri… and emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured.”
Tinubu further praised the military and civilian joint task forces for repelling coordinated attacks on security formations.
“I must commend the courage and fighting spirit of our patriotic troops who successfully repelled the coordinated attacks.”
As of March 18, 2026, the President is in the United Kingdom on an official state visit, where he is being hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle.
Despite being abroad, Tinubu maintained that Nigeria would not bow to fear or intimidation.
“Nigeria will not succumb to fear.”
He reassured citizens that security forces remain fully committed to restoring peace, particularly in the North-East region long affected by insurgency.
