17-Year-Old Girl Crushed to Death During France World Cup Victory Celebrations

A 17-year-old girl was killed after she was crushed by a lorry while celebrating France’s World Cup victory over Morocco in the town of Aulnoye-Aymeries, northern France, The Sun reported on Friday.

According to the report, the teenager was among thousands of supporters celebrating in the streets when she climbed onto the side of a lorry with other fans.

A police spokesperson said she fell onto the road and was run over by the same vehicle.

“She had climbed onto the side of a lorry, along with others, but fell onto the road.

“The teenager was then crushed by the same vehicle. Attempts were made to revive her, but she was declared dead at the scene soon after midnight,” the spokesperson said.

The report said the truck driver had been arrested and would undergo tests for alcohol and drug use as police investigate the incident.

Three witnesses were reportedly taken to hospital with minor injuries and symptoms of shock.

The incident occurred as hundreds of thousands of football supporters celebrated France’s victory across the country.

According to the report, it has become common for supporters in France to climb onto moving vehicles after major football matches despite repeated warnings from authorities that the practice is dangerous.

Authorities had anticipated violence similar to the disturbances that followed Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League triumph in May, when hundreds of people were arrested.

However, police said celebrations were largely peaceful, with only 10 arrests recorded in Paris and fewer incidents elsewhere.

France reached the World Cup semi-finals after a 2-0 victory over Morocco on Thursday, sparking celebrations across the country.
