At the Eleme junction intercession of aba-port harcourt expressway on Monday, a 40-year old woman identified as Chioma Success was crushed to death by a truck which failed break.

This ugly incident happened at about 9am as the truck which was said to have been coming from Oyigbo to the heart of the town ran into a Keke(tricycle) which the woman had boarded.

Giving a report of the sad incident, an eyewitness said the woman was crushed with nothing happening to the driver of the tricycle which she was in.

“She was inside a Keke when it happened. The truck failed to break and before you know it people were running but before the Keke could move, the truck hit the side where the woman was sitting and divided her body.” The eye witness said.

During a statement by Iringe Koko, the spokesperson of the state’s police command on monday evening to newsmen, the incident was confirmed.

However, contrary to the report by others and eyewitness whose identity remains anonymous, the police gave their own report saying that the woman was on the pavement when she met her end.

“One truck with registration number XP 633 JJ, driven by a male was coming from Oyigbo heading towards Rumukrusi approaching Eleme junction  in a bid to dodge a stationed vehicle lost control of the vehicle. The truck wagged off the road and climbed a pavement, knocking one chioma success, 40-year old, who was standing and she died on the spot” the report read.

“Corpse removed and deposited at the morgue for preservation. Driver arrested. The vehicle recovered to the station for VIO inspection. The case will be transferred to the state traffic for further investigation” the report read.
