Police Rescues 6-Months Old Baby From Kidnappers in FCT

Niger State Police Command has rescued a six-month-old baby whose cousin kidnapped and took to the Federal Capital Territory-Abuja to sell.

On 24th January 2025 when the incident happened, the baby’s mother had asked Joy Nuwa, the baby’s cousin to look after her while she ran some errands, in Kwamba Area, Suleja.

However, instead of just looking after the baby, Joy alongside some other neighbors, took the baby to Kubwa, Abuja intending to sell her off. According to the report, when Joy was asked the baby’s way about after the mother couldn’t find it, she lied that she had locked the baby at home.

When the mother could not find her baby, she reported the case to the police and four people were arrested the next day; Joy Nuwa, 20 years old, Ezekiel Emmanuel 30 years old, Patience Obana 23 years old, and Favour James 25 years old.

“During the investigation, officers found no sign of a break-in. This led to the questioning of neighbours, Emmanuel Ezekiel and Favour James, who was later arrested. Emmanuel confessed that they had planned the abduction with Joy and taken the baby to Patience Obana in Kubwa, FCT, to arrange the sale.” The statement of the incident partly read.

According to the Police Command’s spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed this in a statement on Friday said the suspects were transferred to the State CID Minna for further investigation and possible prosecution.
