30 Burnt to Death in Ondo As Two Buses Collided And Caught Fire
Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo sector on Sunday, disclosed an unfortunate incident that took the lives of up to 30 people as two buses crashed and caught fire. This incident happened on the Benin-Ore-Ijebu Ode Expressway at Onipetesi community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday evening.
According to the report, the victims of the road accident were passengers of the both buses that collided.
FRSC Commander of Ondo state Mr. Samuel Ibitonye who confirmed the incident said the accident was as a result of one of the vehicles driving against traffic.
Furthermore, Mr Ibitonye said two victims had survived the accident and were being rushed to the hospital when they died on the way.
“We were nearby when we heard a very loud sound. On reaching the scene, we saw two vehicles that had collided, already burning, while some people inside were struggling to escape.” An eyewitness also confirmed the incident.
Following this report, the FRSC commander has urged drivers/riders to respect traffic and adhere to the rules and regulations to avoid any more casualties.
