US-Based Nigerian Doctor Allegedly Kills Self After Losing $15,000 Child Support

A 36-year-old United States based Nigerian cardiologist, Ikenna Erinne, has reportedly gone suicidal after he lost a child support case to his ex-wife.

On sunday 26th December, 2024 when the tragic incident happened, Erinne had shot himself in the head to death.

The Anambra-state-born late doctor, according to report, had had a prolonged divorce battle with his Ex wife, including the custody of their children.

However, a US court ruled in favor of his ex wife who is yet to be identified and mandated him to pay $15,000 for child support, monthly.

Nigerian-American, Clayton Udo, who confirmed the incident in a tweet on X(twitter) said the verdict of the court drained Erinne financially leading to his death.

“He shot himself to death. He spent thousands of dollars in legal fees – wasted money. I am talking about a process that impoverishes you. You go to court and they take all your money. He lost his license as a cardiologist in this case plus they slammed on him 15,000 dollars a month plus restricted access to his children,” the tweet by Clayton read.

Furthermore, Mr. Clayton implied that the tragic incident highlights the systemic issues within the legal system that disproportionately affect African men.
