BREAKING!! Fresh Varsity Student Drowns in River
A fresher at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Markudi, Benue State, identified as Felix Nyikyaa was reportedly drowned in River Niger on Tuesday.
According to the report, the young freshly admitted student went missing on Sunday and researches had been launched for him only for his dead body to be recovered floating on the river bank on Tuesday, two days later.
Confirming the incident, the President of the National Association of Benue State Students, Ashar Lubem expressed condolence to the family of the deceased and revealed that actual circumstances surrounding the drowning was yet to be uncovered. He said they are still trying to look into it further revealing that the deceased was supposed to be among the recently matriculated students of the institution, on Monday.
“The incident happened two days ago (Sunday) and rescuers searched for him. His body was found this morning (Tuesday).
“We are still looking into the situation to know maybe it was a case of drowning or he was killed because his body was seen floating by the river bank.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the student, and we mourn the loss of a young and promising life. The student’s passing is a tragic reminder of the fragility of life, and we are reminded to cherish every moment we have with our loved ones.
“We also urge all students to be mindful of their well-being and to seek help if they are struggling with their emotions or if they need support. The university is here to support you, and we want to ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive,” he said.
However, the police are yet to make an official statement of the incident at the time of this report.
