I’m not Leaving PDP to Anywhere – Zamfara Gov
The Governor of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawal has denied claims that he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, stating that he does not have any future plans of doing such.
Lawal declared that he bears the PDP membership card and would not let go of it for any reason either to the APC or the ADC coalition movement.
The governor stated this on channels television’s Politics Today, on Wednesday, where he described the reports as mere speculation.
He said; “First of all, I’m glad that you said a rumour that APC, ADC and whatever political parties are calling on me to join their party.
“And I made it clear that I am a PDP card-carrying member and I am still in the PDP, I have no intention of going anywhere.
“So, what you heard is a rumour but I am still in the PDP and have no intention of going anywhere for now.”

When asked about suggestions that he might be seeking political cover from the APC due to pressure from opposition elements in the state, Lawal totally denied such.
According to him, since those forces, including former governors Sani Yerima and Bello Matawalle, were present during the 2023 governorship race could not stop him then, they won’t be able to, in 2027.
Lawal, however, acknowledged that the PDP is experiencing internal issues, just as he expressed optimism that things would go back to normal in the die time.
Meanwhile, the governor also clarified that his relationship with Tinubu does not change the fact that they are of opposite parties.
Therefore, he was not able to clearly stated whether he would support the president in 2027 or not, as he said; “there is still time to 2027, we still have two years down the line.”
According to him, since the election won’t be untill after two years, politics should not be the main focus now rather governance and the well being of the people.
