Boko Haram Significantly Weakened, Security Improving — FG

The Federal Government has stated that the insurgent group Boko Haram has been significantly weakened, assuring Nigerians that the country’s overall security situation is gradually improving.

This position was made known by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, during a meeting in Abuja. He explained that sustained military operations, alongside non-kinetic strategies, have greatly reduced the operational strength of the group.

According to the government, these efforts have disrupted the activities of insurgents, making their attacks less coordinated and largely sporadic. Officials noted that the group no longer possesses the same level of territorial control or capacity it once had at the peak of the insurgency.

The Federal Government also highlighted ongoing measures to strengthen national security, including improved military strategies and the acquisition of additional equipment to support troops in the field. Authorities expressed confidence that the current security challenges facing the country are temporary and will continue to decline with sustained efforts.

While acknowledging that remnants of the group still exist, the government maintained that progress is being made and urged citizens to remain vigilant and supportive of security agencies as operations continue across affected regions.
