Tinubu Has Not Converted to Christianity – Aide Clarifies

The Presidency has dismissed viral claims suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu converted from Islam to Christianity, describing the report as false and misleading.

The clarification came after an 8-minute video began circulating online, claiming the Nigerian leader had abandoned Islam after allegedly attending a Christian gathering. The video quickly sparked reactions across social media platforms.

Reacting to the rumours, Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, urged Nigerians to ignore the claim. In a statement shared on X, he described the story as “a lie” and maintained that the President remains a practising Muslim.

Olusegun also explained that Tinubu has always publicly supported religious harmony within his family, noting that the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a Christian and pastor.

According to him, their marriage reflects mutual respect between both faiths rather than any form of religious conversion.

The Presidency’s response appears aimed at calming growing online speculation, especially as discussions around religion and politics continue to generate strong reactions in Nigeria’s political space.
