The Young Women of Africa has declared its support for the candidacy of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, for the Kogi Central Senatorial District seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement signed by the Nigerian Coordinator of the organisation and National Treasurer of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Amb. Asmawu Idris Omeiza, the group described the APC candidate as the most qualified candidate for the position, citing his record of governance, youth inclusion, and women empowerment during his tenure as governor.
The organisation noted that the former governor’s administration provided opportunities for women to occupy strategic positions in government, including the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), vice chairmanship positions across the 21 Local Government Areas, and other key appointments.
It further highlighted his administration’s deliberate focus on youth participation in governance, stating that young people were entrusted with critical responsibilities, including the office of the Chief of Staff and other significant government positions.
According to the statement, Yahaya Bello’s experience as governor, coupled with his achievements under the New Direction Agenda, positions him as a capable legislator who can effectively represent the interests of Kogi Central at the National Assembly.
The group expressed confidence that his election as senator would bring stronger advocacy, effective representation, and legislative support for the people of the district, particularly in the areas of economic development, youth empowerment, education, and women advancement.
“His experience, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to public service will undoubtedly make him an invaluable asset to both our senatorial district and the nation at large,” the statement read.
The Young Women of Africa also commended the former governor for offering himself to serve the people of Kogi Central once again, pledging its commitment to mobilising support for his emergence in the 2027 election.
Amb. Asmawu Idris Omeiza reaffirmed the organisation’s loyalty and support for Yahaya Bello’s senatorial ambition, describing his aspiration as a renewed call to service.
