Security Guard Accidentally Shoots Himself in Sokoto After Rescuing 66 Kidnap Victims

In an operation on Monday at Tidibali forest, Sokoto state which involved Nigerian army and sokoto security guards, one of the guards accidentally shot himself and died.

The tragic incident happened shortly after the rescue of about 66 victims of kidnap when the deceased was trying to fix his gun.

Confirming the incident to the press was the special adviser to the Governor on Security -Gov Ahmed Aliyu, Colonel  Ahmed Usman who said it was an accidental discharge.

“He was handling his gun when it accidentally discharged, fatally wounding him and he died shortly after” Usman said giving an account of the incident.

However, Usman went on to give account of the progress of the operation which they went for and said it was a success.

“The mission is ongoing as we aim to rid the state of criminal elements, especially bandits” he said.
