Dotun Oyelade, the minister for information and orientation in Oyo state has, in a statement on Saturday revealed that Oyo state Government spent about 12million naira to pay workers in the state on friday.

He also said that Governor Seyi Makinde simply fulfilled his promise by paying workers the new minimum wage of N80,000 as he said two weeks ago that it would be effective from 1st January 2025.

“In this same month of January, pensioners are not left behind in the comprehensive welfare” the commissioner said.

He highlighted that the minimum pension of N25,000 has been approved as well as an increase by 23% for over 40,000 retirees of the state.

Furthermore, the commission made it known that the state government has made away with the purchasing of retirement forms as a way of lifting financial pressure on those who would be retiring soon. The form costed N4,000 but retirees would not have to spend their money on it anymore.
