Why I Dumbed PDP For APC — Ned Nwoko
Ned Nwoko, the lawmaker representing Delta North in the National Assembly has disclosed his main reason for leaving PDP for APC saying it was difficult for him working with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
This reaction is coming after after the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s aide, Mr. Fred Oghenesivbe, accused Senator Nwoko of leaving the party for fear of losing his PDP ticket in 2027.
However, recall that Hon. Nwoko resigned from PDP and gave his reason stating that PDP had many factions and a lot of things were not right there in.
Meanwhile, following Me. Oghenesivbe’s accusation on why he left PDP, Ned reacted on Monday and said he left because Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Ifeanyi Okowa would not support the creation of Anioma state.
“I left because I want to be able to get the support of the ruling party in the creation of Anioma state. The governor and Okowa, who are the leaders of PDP, are against the creation of Anioma state. I sought the support of PDP National, but they have been embroiled in destructive fights and have been unable to show leadership.
“The governor made sure that I wasn’t allowed to function. He dismissed all the projects that we had discussed during the campaigns, citing a lack of funds.
“Okpai power plant and Ogwashi-Uku dam are examples. I wasn’t allowed to nominate any board members, commissioners, or local government chairmen. I had to join the ruling party so as to be able to attract projects to my constituency. Time is running.” Hon. Nwoko said.
However, Charles Aniagwu, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, had told journalists in Asaba, on Monday that Ned Nwoko’s resignation was not significant stating that the major focus is governance and not playing politics. He also recounted how Hon. Nwoko had dumbed APGA and DPP in 2003 and 2011 respectively. He noted that despite his leaving those parties, PDP always won so he said, PDP’s win in 2027 is certain whether Nwoko left or not.
