A Camp For The Politically Displaced And Desperate — Onanuga Fires At NDC

Bayo Onanuga has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress, saying the opposition party lacks a clear agenda for the country ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a post shared on X on Friday, Onanuga questioned the party’s preparedness and ideology, claiming that despite public interest surrounding its recent political alignments, the NDC has yet to present a detailed manifesto to Nigerians.

According to him, he had visited the party’s website twice in recent days out of “sheer curiosity” to check whether the party had outlined “a markedly different vision for the governance of Nigeria, one better than President Tinubu’s and the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The presidential aide said his search ended in disappointment after repeated attempts to access the party’s manifesto returned the message: “No document found.”

Onanuga further argued that the party’s publicly displayed policy points were vague and lacked substance.

“What it flaunts are six policy nuggets that it characterised as pillars,” he wrote. “However, the nuggets don’t read like pillars. They sound more like the platitudes the party’s newest catch, Peter Obi, has bombarded the nation with in the last six years.”

He also took a swipe at key opposition figures recently linked with the party, describing Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso as politicians seeking “shelter” after allegedly distancing themselves from the ADC.

Onanuga also referenced comments by Seriake Dickson, who reportedly said the party would wage an “ideological battle” in the 2027 elections, challenging the former Bayelsa governor to clearly state the NDC’s mission and vision for Nigeria.

“Your party appears to be the camp for the politically displaced and desperate,” he added.
